if i could go back in time and know what i know now about energy. i would say that Gravitational potential energy is energy an object possesses because of its position in a gravitational field. The most common use of gravitational potential energy is for an object near the surface of the Earth where the gravitational acceleration can be assumed to be constant at about 9.8 m/s2. also i would say that Kinetic energy is energy of motion. The kinetic energy of an object is the energy it possesses because of its motion. The kinetic energy* of a point mass m is given by

Kinetic energy is an expression of the fact that a moving object can do work on anything it hits

and for internal energy: U is the most common symbol and internal energy happens when there is a different change of temperature

If i could go back in time and tell my self different things about energy then i would tell my self first that there are three different types of energy. first you have the gravitational potention energy, elastic potencial energy and internal energy. i would tell my self that gravitational potential energy is when something or someone is at its highest point then the earthes gravity does work to bring it back down to the surface that it started from. Next i would tell my self that elastic potentioal energy is when you have a rubber band or a spring that does work on something to give it energy, and like flings it off. last is internal energy which is when something is doing work but after it is done doing work the temperature changes.

Ok i picked characteristics of the moon and if i had to go back in time and tell me what characteristics of the moon are; i would tell my self. some things i found on schoolforchampions.com were A moon is a large body or mass or material that orbits around a planet. It is usually much smaller than the planet. The Earth has only one moon, while Mars has two moons and Jupiter has 9 moons.

Our Moon is only about 1/4 the diameter of the Earth. Its gravity affects the Earth's tides. The Moon looks bright at night because of sunlight that is reflected off its surface. It has some distinct surface features that can be seen with the naked eye. Astronauts examined the surface more closely during Moon landings.

it is possible to have life on the moon because they did find water.

this week in science we started to learn about what solstice and equinoxs are. i found out that a solstice is A solstice is an astronomical event that happens twice each year, when the tilt of the Earth's axis is most inclined toward or away from the Sun. i got this from wikipedia. and the equinox is An equinox occurs twice a year, when the tilt of the Earth's axis is inclined neither away from nor towards the Sun, the Sun being vertically above a point on the Equator which i also got from wikipedia. Then later in the week we looked at this really cool earth to sun orbit simulator, i thought it was kinda like a game because i wanted to see if i can get the orbit perfect around the earth. but we had to do 20 trials of placing the earht from the sun and testing the speed we would put it at. In the begging i could not get it to orbit but after a while and seeing what speeds and distances worked close i got it.

this week in science we started to learn about a very important subject, seasons. We went over how seasons are created, like as many people may think that we have summer when the sun is closer to the earth and winter when it is furthest but they is not right. the reason of how we are in summer and how we are in winter is because: in winter the sun is actually the closest to the earth but the sun light is less direct to us on the earth. In summer the sun is further from the earth but its sun light is more direct on us on the earth. what i mean by less direct and more direct is when it is less direct the earth is on an angle making the sun not being able to get a direct shot of rays on it which is winter. and in summer the earth is not as much tilted so the rays on the sun can directly hit us making extra heat. I can use what i learned this week in real life because; well i was already using it this week with my dad, because we were going out to the bank and he was like whao its really bright out let me get my sun glasses. and i was like yes it is very bright out because the sun is closer to the earth this time of the year but the reason why it is cooler out is because the sun is less direct on us. this week was great because i really understood it and i like to learn about real life things like that.

this week in science we went over a lot of different and new things. the first objective that fin gave us was to look at this moon simulator and make different observations. i found out a lot of cool things about the moon the way it revlovels and the different illmultations it has. there are 8 different phases of the moon. also i learned what the differnce is between wanning and waxing. wanning is when it is in a phase but over time the ammount of moon you can see will decrease. but when it is waxing it is the opposit you will be able to see more of the moon. we were going over this through out the week but at the end of the week we were starting to go over what the moon can do with the tides. our homewoork was to reserach what the moon does with the tides, so i am going to stop blogging and do my homework.
